General
Maison Amandier (± 120 m², 5 pers.) is situated in the upper ring of the ‘eagle nest’ village of Mosset (see the picture on the home page). Mosset is one of the only 5 officially rewarded ‘plus belle villages de France’ of the department Pyrénées-Orientales and has an impressive history, as it was for centuries the frontier village between Catalonia and France. This history shows in many ways in the fortified parts of Mosset. Maison Amandier is located just below the gigantic medieval castle in the oldest parts and on the side with the best views over the Castellane valley. Mosset is a relative large village (302 inhabitants) en has therefore a small supermarket and a restaurant.
Maison Amandier is located in a quiet cul-de-sac and is semi-detached. The adjoining property is almost never occupied, which ensures that Maison Amandier is nice and quiet. As the house has 3 free sides with many windows it is clear and sunny. All floors on the ground floor are decorated with the over 300 years old slates which were originally on the roof of the house before restoration. The floors on the 1st floor are done with oak wood planks. In a part of the living room (1st floor) the original stone wall was kept and treated. All these materials give the interior of Maison Amandier a rough and natural atmosphere.
